As has been mentioned, these are very different cars.

I looked at the 911S coupe when buying my 545. I would have chosen the 911 but for 3 mitigating factors:
1) I am starting to have back problems even though I am in my 30s and the comfort seats were important to me as I drive long distances often.
2) I preferred an auto and felt it would be a sin to order a 911S with the tiptronic.
3) Financially, the 545 was a much better deal given I decided to lease it when the money factor was extremely low.

If these are not issues for you, I would definitely go for the 911S Cab. You only live once and the 911S is truly an icon that will bring you happiness every time you drive it.

Really these cars are so different, but I went through the same decision to some degree. I ended up getting the 911, and it is a daily driver. It is rough, and raw but that is exactly what I wanted. This was probably my last shot at getting a coupe before we have children so I went with the coupe. The upshot of it all is really how can you go wrong? What a great problem to have! Just figure out what you want in the car, realize the ups and downs of both and pick the one that most meets your needs. Simple isn't it ?

You guys are amazing people! This is a BMW forum and I think more are going for the Porsche! But, I would like to hear more from the current M5 owners. All practical purposes aside, what would you choose to drive for a year (my typical duration to keep a car)? E60 M5 or 997 S Cabriolet?

We may be BMW owners, but we are also realistic.

It's not really that crazy of a comparison.
I'm a little over a year away from my lease being up.
If I were to be shopping right now, it would be between the M5 and the 997tt.
I really should get a 4-door, but I really Want the 997tt.
I just have to get it "out of my system"!

997tt is between 30000 and 45000euro more than the m5 depending on spec! for that much money i would look at an entry f430....

m5 is just a great all round performer , when you are on a budget
