I have M5 front brakes(rotors and calipers) and I still have the spare tire(donut) in my trunk. I know the M5s don't have this.
Is it because it will not fit the bigger brake system or just to minimize weight? I don't want to carry it in the car if it's not necessary. Thanks in advance .

Joe,
I'm sure the spare won't fit your M5 BKK. If you want to use the spare tire in case of a flat, keep a 5mm spacer handy. It'll help to clear the pistons.

M5's don't have it for both reasons! The spare tire compartment has a special insert with the mobility assist kit (tire pump and a few other things) as well as the battery. Battery was moved to the trunk for both weight balance and size issues. However, a LOT of M5 owners are looking for a donut spare that would fit the brakes that they could take on vacations without loosing too much cargo room. It sounds to me like you might have figured it out. I may need to find a non-M E60 friend around here to check out the possibility of mounting the donut with a spacer onto my M5.

So the spare tire could fit with a spacer ?
It is very sad .. I got nonRF tires thinking "In case of puncture I have the spare tire .." .
In case of front tire puncture I figure I couldn't fit the /275 (would it rub ?) in the front and the spare tire in the rear, right ?

huh? why would you not want to put the spare onto the front - where the puncture is...?
I guess we just have to carry the right size spacer for the spare tire to work.

Because we both have bigger M5 brakes up front.
