Hi,

This message just to inform people that want to put a BBK on their M5.

I have installed Stoptech BBK in March 2009.

After 2000 miles the Disks were worned, not even been to the track.
So i have contacted Stoptech but they said it was not possible to worn the disks.

I have ordered a new set of disks because it was impossible to drive the car.

I have used them for 1000 miles, last friday i went to the track and it happened again.

The disks are worn again.

So if people want to put a BBK ,

DON't DO STOPTECH.....

Very surprising to hear considering they're a very reputable company. Sorry about your troubles. What did StopTech say after this second occurrence?

Guys,

I have already resurfaced the first pair after they were worned the first time.
After 500 miles the same crap.

I have red all the articles of Stoptech but what they put in there articles is really funny.
Worned disk is not possible and that it is just stuff of the pads on the disks.

The problem is that the disks are not that good and that the 6 pot calibers are too strong for the disks they make.

I can assure you that the disks are not that good of quality otherwise it is not possible to worn 2 pairs of disks in 5000 miles.

Even following the instructions very carefully of the bedding in and braking in.

APRacing is ordered so if someone want to have the calibers of Stoptech, you can for 500 euro.

Are brake/disk replacements really necessary? Im still on the original setup, and until worn out not looking to replace or upgrade. Is there really a neeeeeed to replace the BMW setup with brembos or BBK like people have?

Just curious to why the upgrade... strickly preformance based, or is it because to replace my stock setup with new stock parts when worn is the same price???

THanks

Aartsy

Hi,

It's just for the track when you will need this or when you often drive full speed.

Most people will change it for the look.

The price for Pads front and rear are approx. 500$ and the discs front and rear are approx. 750$

A BBK kit will cost you around 3000 $.

So you can replace it but if you not use is at the edge it's not needed.

I have now new discs in warranty from stoptech, so Calibers and Discs you can buy here.
Please Pm for more info.

Filip
