Yes that one is an SMG. So far from what i've heard about / researching the SMG since you guys informed me, i've been keeping my options open looking at them. I also found a black one but i think white's shows so much more as far as the kit that comes on the m5.
PS WTB if anyone is selling a 2008 + //M5 . Preferably White

Plenty of them around, good luck with your purchase - manual or SMG I am sure you will be thrilled with it. I know because I have driven the M5 andthat is DEFINITELY my next car.

My Ride: 2005 530i upgraded to 2007 550i 12/20/06
Took delivery of 2008 M5 3/25/08 cf delete K&N filters, the rest stock.
With all the settings you can choose for your SMG, you can fine tune the car to your liking.
You also have control over your traction control with SMG, I think with 6MT you can not
totally disable the traction control? Someone can chime in on that! Good luck, either way
you will own a beast

My Ride: 2008 Sapphire Black on Black M5 - loaded sans soft close doors
6 speed manual rocks. Love it. Clutch is not stiff, shifts are incredibly smooth, car is a blast to drive and yes, you can totally disable the traction control. Lots of people here have the SMG and seem to have a preference for it - even if they have never driven the car with the 6 speed manual I have yet to find someone who got the 6 speed and wished they had gotten the SMG. Get the manual, you will love it.

Good luck with your search - you are going to be stunned by what a great machine the M5 is.
As far as SMG versus manual ... test drive both types if you can to see which you like better. I don't think you can go wrong either way. One consideration - if you plan to keep the car a really long time (10+ years), the traditional manual may prove to be more reliable and less costly to repair. Otherwise, the SMG is really really good and feels a lot like a stick shift except your left leg doesn't get tired and the downshifts are F1 nirvana.
There are even some 'new' 2008 6 speed manuals on dealer lots that you could get for a steep discount ... like this one.
Just be patient and you will find the right M5 with all the options and colors you like best.

I am currently trading in my 04 545i for a 08' M5 w/ 6K 6MT. I have owned many BMW's but this will be my first //M. What am i getting into and what will i need to look out for as far as maintaining it, problems, etc..
What to look for ?
Look for any plastic surgeon you might now, the M5 smile can only be removed surgically
Look for any traffic lawyer or even better judge you might know, you will need them
Look for the Shell Credit card, the way this thing drinks gasoline, the 5% cash back will add up very fast
Look for the BMW Credit card, if you maintain the beast properly the next lease will be on BMW
Look for all your female friends to become a bit friendlier, wife's and gf's included
Look for everyone to slow down around you, except for Audi and Nissan drivers who will almost crash on you trying to drive fast, and Porsche drivers who will accelerate immediately and try to disappear
Look to learn how to treat valet guys otherwise you will not be able to eat out anymore
It seems that you have make up your mind, congrats
