I'm sure if you use Launch Control and do launches all the time, that could be a way to burn it out. I've done 17 launches in my car, since owning it. I don't do them that often, but when I do, boy are they fun! Hahahaha!

Is the SMG clutch covered under CPO and extended maintainence warranty provided by BMW. I just dropped my car off at the dealership for replacement of my SMG pump and I am wondering if I should ask them to check the clutch as well?

17 and your car still works? Cool. I wonder how many the first owner did on my car... maybe I should ask the dealer to do a read out.

Sorry to hear of your problems. Sounds like Scott's advise is the best way to approach this situation. My experience with BMWNA has always been very good. Mostly due to the fact that my SA speaks highly of me and they call BMWNA and speak to the BMW REP. for me. I know you weren't given this choice by being referred to BMW of Manhatten.

I have heard bad things about them(BMW OF MAN) over at the Porsche Boards.

I would file the claims and write a neutral letter to the GM of BMW of MAN. and BMWNA and address your concerns. Perhaps ask for a new REP at BMWNA and speak to the Service Manager at the BMW dealership. Ask them to provide anything to you that you signed for outside of the verbal agreement you made with BMWNA to cover the diagnostics.

Make them work for it and prove to you that you made the judgement in error not them.

Good luck.
