The new M5 E60 is almost ready. Several cars were seen in the last months in Germany. And it's not only a E60 doing some tests, it's the final M5 running the final tests.

more pictures of new M5.... it's ready, only missing some adjusts on engine.
They are not shure of the power they will put in the final version... they are watching the competition .... so a few months more.

I must agree with jonboy.
Those photos were published in a German magazine in early 2003.
I will bet more in the other photos that show us a "wrapped" M5.
They are near the real M5.
