I am looking to pick up an M5 in the next few days...

What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting?

And are there any "issues" I should look out for when checking them out?

Thanks for your help!

i get about 10-11 mpg. thats with regular driving with a few "spirited" runs here and there. Dont forget youll be putting in 91 "super" all the time, not so bad now but it was when gas was almost $5 a gallon. as far as any issues, just make sure your car is fully warrantied and hasn't been heavilly modded, ecu tuned etc. and if it has then make sure the dealer acknowledges it so it dosent mess up your warranty later.

+1 to everything he said.

I would add that early build 2006s had SMG and VANOS issues.

Where are you located btw?

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm located in Minneapolis. Slim pickins for M5s around here, so I'll have something shipped to me.

If the M5 isn't BMW certified, any warranty companies that you'd recommend?

Hi,

if you think about a M5, you don't think about gas mileage.

Better by a 530D instead.

If you use the M5 in daily traffic, you dont do more then 200 - 250 miles with a full tank.

If you're concerned about gas mileage, then you shouldn't get the M5.

Would you really advise to stay away from all '06's? What about if you were to purchase a $3k+ aftermarket warranty? Do you think they'd try to screw you on the SMG like BMW did for you?
