My Ride: 2008 Sapphire Black on Black M5 - loaded sans soft close doors
Local dealer has the M5 that I would order (Monaco Blue, all options, 6-speed manual).
Personally, I LOVE MY CAR. But the allure of the M5 has always eaten away at me.
Of note, my drive to work is mostly 0-30-0 with some 0-40-0 and the torque of the 550 is just so sweet.
So I'm curious if anyone here had a 545/550 and moved up to an M5 and what your thoughts are.

Isn't the M5 only available in Interlagos Blue?
my friend picked up a 07 M5, Loves it, I drove it and my impression is that; without the sport mode on, it will feel and drive like a 545/550, basically a v8 power. But hitting on that Sport EDC power button, and the car transforms into something you will be thrilled to drive.
In other words, if you can afford it, Id go for it, I think you would have so much fun in that thing.

Never Mind you're right, just checked. It is available in Monaco Blue. Hmm. I learned something today. If I were to get an M5, I would go for the Indianapolis Red Metallic, because back then when I laid my eyes on a red colored e39 m5 before, it changed my mind on bmw's and I wanted it ever since then.

There are several members here (Wolverine & ECF) who have made the switch, and others on the M5Board - and I don't think you can find any who have regretted the move. In fact, I'm sure they would say "what are you waiting for?"
Monaco Blue? Very cool. You won't see many of those around. GO GET IT!

As you know, I went from a 650i to a M6 and I'm not looking back. The M is so damned exhilarating it's not funny. If it's within your means, by all means do it.

As my friend just said "You are hanging with a dangerous crowd Doug"
I was just hoping SOMEONE would say that they miss the low end torque of the 550... damn you guys.
Gene - check your PM.

Meee Toooo Just not sure the gas mileage make sense for me. My wife says the longer I wait the less my car is worth in trade...
Do it now before other reasons come up.
I agree with the gas mileage which is a bummer especially if it's a daily driver.
