I've just picked up my car from a service and the SA asked if I was interested in one of the "25th Anniversary Edition" M5s being built. Details are somewhat sketchy and he couldn't tell me if it had the upgraded engine from the "CSL". But engine aside, one thing it's not is the CSL. It is in a special colour - Frozen Grey, and appears to be fully loaded, but with special individual black leather / Silverstone 2 highlight seats, Piano black, Silverstone highlights on the doorpanels, Silverstone piping, individual sound, special 20in wheels and an anniversary plaque. 25 will be made, 10 for the UK, where the price will be ?73k on the road for delivery in January 2010. The sales guy thinks these will be the last E60 M5s built.

He was also very doubtful about the F10 M5 arriving in 2010. Delivery of even a 520d in the UK will not be till June - he is taking orders now but has been told builds will not start until March. In his experience a March M5 announcement would mean a Jan 2011 delivery! That means potentially a full year in which no beasts are produced.

(I also took out a X6M for a spin - wrong forum I know - short story is very fast but not for me I'm afraid)

Interesting... I hope there will be some delay between the E60 M5 and F10 M5. I want to be special for just a bit longer.

I was told that E60 production will stop just before Christmas. At that point they will start retooling for the F10. I told my dealer I wanted my M5 to be one of the last produced so I could get as close to the end of my 335 lease as possible. The status of my car at this point is "Scheduled For Production". I was not offered an "Anniversary Edition" when I ordered mine. Even if they had I don't think I would have gone for it. I am looking forward to the ventilated seats.

Hi,

I went today to the dealer and in Europe the production is closed, no more e60 possible.

The anniversary edition was already available from Mai in Europe.

Only anniversary model available now is the M6.
