Alpina B5 or M5?

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.

I think the Alpina B5 accentuates the "luxury" side of the E60.
The M5 on the other hand accentuates the "performance" side of the E60.
Each has its own attributes.
Need to say nomore, but the resale price will not be as good as on the M5.
A Alpina is also harder to service, the BMW dealers do not usually take them in.

For me the choice would be B5 .. in the flesh they don't look like standard E60 SE model. I think a VERY good alternative to M5. Plus they come in auto. though I would prefer manual/SMG, the wife always wants auto.

[/quote]I just got a copy of BMW Car magazine here the other day and they did a head to head on the M5 and B5 and I think the B5 looked to have edged it, unlike the M5 the majority of the torque and power is *always* on tap and the handling looked pretty close to the M5. I'd have either but if it was my money, and we could get the B5 in the US, I think I'd look at that first. Looks like an AWESOME car.

You couldn'y go wrong with either one. But I think its a matter of personal preference...if you drive on a daily basis and often encounter traffics the B5 might be a better choice. For those who has more sporting nature should probably good for the M5. Personally I vote for the M5

well I love both cars but M5 would be better on the resale value.....If only alpna B5 has a 6-spd manual option....
