Kevin - How does it sound? I too, am seriously considering buying the AFE Intake from Joe. I currently have the BMC Filters and RPI Scoops. However, I had the AFE Intake on my 530 and loved how it sounded. I can only imagine how much BETTER the AFE will sound on my M5. Any chance you can do a video clip? Is that asking too much?

C's Bimmer,

The sound from the intake is very addicting and you can really tell that the engine is alive. The sound is much better then any exhaust. I too will be ordering more things from Joe now.

P.S. I also have AFE on my M3 and love the quality.

Couldn't you use the RPI Scoops with the AFE intake?

any dyno info from actual testing and not afe

there was a lot of talk on the m5 board that this setup may actually be losing power because of air temperatures

That is what i experience with cone air filters as they suck too much hot air from the engine bay during real world driving condition(traffic, hot and humid weather, etc). I have experience power loss on my 645ci with this setup, 0-60mph acceleration drop by almost a full second. I have since try to avoid this type of intake upgrades. Anyone with experiences care to chime in....

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to let all the E60 M5 owners know that AFE released their Stage II intakes for your car. Retail is for $743.5 (regular filter) and $737.50 (pro dry S filter). I am a distributor for AFE and I will be selling this for $497 (regular filter) shipped or $493 (pro dry S filter). Please PM me if you are interested. Thank you.

There is a new link on the m5 board that dyno tested pre and post afe, hood closed, and found a 20-25hp LOSS with the afe...bummer

Yep, here's the link: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60-m5-e6...yno-review.html

I was really hoping we'd see some positive improvements instead of decrease in power.
