Howdy - former 550i owner. Current MB CLS55AMG owner.

Thinking about getting an M5.

Question... I need to put 2 child booster seats in the back and also put a 6 year-old in the center back seat. Will that work? Or is it too tight?

Too tight. I have 2 boosters and when I transport a third in the middle, I end up having to remove 1 booster. You might be able to jam them in with boosters but getting the seat belts done up is difficult at best.

At least the M5 has a middle back seat.

I don't know why all all booster seats seem to be about 2 inches too wide. They never sit where they should and you have so slide the booster over to get at the seat belt recepticle. I just don't get it.

Three kids is the reason we got the X5 with 3rd row. Had the Volvo XC90 (with 3rd row) before that.

When we got our first E60, it was going to be the family car. But after one long journey with the kids in the back "He's touching me!", "No, YOU TOUCHED ME!", "I HATE YOU!!!" etc etc, we went straight to the Volvo garage and bought an XC90 that same day (literally).

If you have three kids, you need three rows of seats, or one of the adults has to ride in the back and one kid in the front.

If you think it's bad trying to squeeze booster seats in, you wait until they are old enough not to need booster seats ... it gets much worse!

I know your pain...and it doesn't end when they're out of boosters,
you may have to suffer and get a 7 series Alpina

Thanks for all the replies.

I feel like a snob but here's the deal. I have an Escalade ESV (extended Escalade) that my wife drives around. This is what we use for road trips and most of the traveling together as a family.

The issue I have is that I'll be taking 3 kids to elementary school in the morning on my way to work so I need a way to tote around 3 kids. The oldest is 7 so I assumed she can't travel in the front seat. Is that true? If she can, I'm good to go.

I test drove and Audi A8L yesterday. It was ok - but everything feels like a slow boat after being in the CLS55 or 550i. Just wasn't very inspiring to drive.

Any other suggestions for "big" cars that drive like small ones? What about the S8? Don't love the looks - but that would be more spacious I assume?

Small price to pay to ride in an M5
They'll learn to love it...
