The dealership where I ordered my 550 (in California) has now decided to charge a $25,000 premium on the first M5s. They originally offered to hold the price to MSRP, but since so many others are charging a premium, well, that leaves out a lot of dollars for them.

So, for those of you who where able to buy the M5 in a rational market location, well done. For those of you in CA, ouch.

Anyone willing to pay over retail, PM me and give that money instead. If you are crazy enough to throw away your cash I have a fund that will go to my local children's hospital instead to a fat cat stealership.(dealership oops)ha ha.

It's interesting that you mention the charity angle. The story I got is that the dealership owner at first wanted to make sure that if their M5s were going to be flipped and sold at a premium, then he would take that premium and donate it. He was going to offer buyers the option to select a charity to donate the price premuim. His crack legal team told him this would not be legal.

When the current Porsche Turbo was released in 2001, some dealers in CA were getting $50K premiums. Crazy.

I'd pay $30K premium. Why not?

That's totally madness to pay that extra premiums.. The most i would pay over MSRP is $5k.. imagine losing $40k for your car's first yr depreciation.. :'(
