I have a 2008 M5 with 20" GFG 3-piece wheels and my lease is up March 2010. I want to lower my suspension (aesthetics primarily to lower the gap between wheel well and tires) and I know that coilovers are the best but I don't want to pay that much money if it is just a lease. As a result, I am thinking of either H&R Sport Springs 05+ BMW M5 - P/N: 50463 or Eibach Pro-Kit Springs 06-08 BMW M5 5.0L V10 - P/N: 2088.140 both about $280/set plus labor. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

H&Rs are probably the most widely used springs for the M5. I believe Eibachs are a bit softer. I have RDSport springs which provide the lowest drop and a more even-to-raked stance compared to other springs where the front still looks a bit higher than the rear. But the RDSport springs also retail for about $600 a set.

I've had H&R on my prior car and felt it was a little too harsh for my taste. This time around, I went with Eibach and couldn't be happier. GL on whatever you decide!

I have the Eibach Pro-Kit on my M5 and they are perfect. I had the H&R's on my other E60 and they were too stiff. Get the Eibachs.

It is settled. I am looking for Eibachs. Anyone I can trust to install them in Southern California? Please PM or reply here. Thanks for all those who replied and those who sent me a PM.

Yep, the Eibach setup is definitely softer than the H&R. They're not quite as soft as the stock springs, but the increase in stiffness isn't too big of a jump.

Using stock diameter wheels & tires, with the Eibach springs, at the front, there's about 21mm of space between the tire tread and the lip of the wheelwell at the top, and about 18mm in the rear.
