If possible, I'd like to use the same stock tires that the 550i sport will come with and just swap them on to the new 167 wheels. I don't exactly know what size tires will be on the 172s when the car is delivered but I will call dealer today to find out. I did learn that the 172s have offset of 18 (front) / 32 (rear) while the 167s have offset of 12 / 28. Unfortunately, I have no clue whether this is related to the M5 or M6 version of the 167s. Ugh!
BTW, the 167s really look sweet on your car!

The stock tires on the 172's are 245/35/19 front, 275/30/19 rear. I purchased "standard offset" 167's (offset 12 Front - 28 Rear) and had the stock tires that came on my 172's mounted on them. Works great, no spacers needed.

It will be awhile before my car arrives on west coast (ED is not until first week in Nov, then long boat ride) so no need for you to take the first low ball offer that comes along.
(I would be curious to learn what is a resonable price to ask for on a set of new take off 172s)

i originally had the 166's and loved them..
i changed them after a month as my dealer needed to compensate me and offered me new 167's plus new boots. so i took 'em. didn't initially warm to them (i have Interlagos blue by the way), then slowly grew to love 'em. now i simply wouldn't go back.
1) you don't see many M5's with the 167's on (certainly near me at least).
2) damn site easier to clean !!!!!!!!
3) stands out more
4) more aggressive styling

I had the same dilemma and decided to go for 166 because it's more suited for the 5 IMO. The 167 is also nice that it gives a very sporty look on our 5 but at the end of the day the 166 still makes my head turn more every time i see one on the road. FYI, this is how i decide on which mid to choose: It's whatever that catches more of my attention. Good luck on your choice. Either one is nice!

I would go with 166, because a) I prefer them b) they are M5 wheels!
But the 167 are better, technically : very light and more resistant than 166!
