yokohama tires

Howdy! Lets talk tires yet again. 04 530i with 17" wheels. Guess I'm ditching the runflats. I know the Michelins are great, have some on my Suburban, but I gotta get more than 10-30,000 miles you guys on the forum are getting. Sorry, my drive to work is not a racetrack, and I don't like hanging out at the tire dealer. I had some Yokohamas on my last car, a Porsche 944, and was very pleased with them. Anyone have any experience on the Beemer? Thanks. Looking for about 40,000 miles with a warranty (no mile warranty on Michelin Pilots).

40,000 miles on a quality set of tires??? I suppose it depends heavily on your driving style, but since you had a P-car in the past, I'm assuming you don't drive like a grandma. Granted, Mich PS2's wear quicker, but the ride is supposedly superb. I've heard the Yoko Advan Sports are a good tire, but noisy as all heck.

I had 17" Yoko ES100's on an E46. I liked everything about them except the noise -- and there was a lot of that, especially as they wore. They probably made it about 35K miles for me. The Advan Sport should be a higher end tire than the ES100's, but it sounds like they may be loud also.

My Ride: 07 BMW 525i Premium Package, Xenon Lighting Package, manual Transmission. Titanium Grey, 20% Tint around the back, 70% V-Kool on front.
Planned mods: Style 71 wheels with Toyo Proxy 4 tires, Sachs suspension upgrade, upgraded stereo, and many more to come.
No experience in Yoko on a bimmer, but then I have both the AVS ES100 and the AVS dB S2 on my old accord with 15" wheels. The AVS ES100 handles a tad better, but the dB S2 is very close and is smooth and quiet (that's what the dB is supposed to be: quiet). I think the dB S2 should last ~40k-45k on my 205/60/15 on my old car, but for a bimmer that has 225/50/17, it may be a little less. Still you should get at least 30k on the dB S2. The AVS ES 100 wears out quicker, probably 30k-35k on my 15", and I don't think they are too noisy.
I have General UHP which is cheap, quiet, and smooth on my 525i (19" stagger setup), not sure about the tread wear but then I will be happy if it last 20k miles since it's a really low profile tire....

My Ride: 2004 545i / Orient Blue (I think) / Tan int / 116's Wheels / ... my favorite option, the HEATED steering wheel!
Previous cars retired:
2006 Corvette Z51, 2002 Corvette Coupe, 2002 Mustang, 1997 Maxima, 1994 Camry, 1990 Supra
None, and I mean none compare to this 545i. The 06 Corvette was faster, but not by much...
Yoko and Pirellis always have that whistle or rowl ro them on the highway... Good cornering, but if your driving a lot of highway the PS2's are probably best.

I don't know if they're available in 17's but my Toyo's have been absolutely awesome. I have aprox. 30K on them (mostly freeway commuting) and they still look like they're gonna go another 10-15K. Ride is still smooth, quiet, and they seem to grip pretty good...specially in the rain. I would defineatly give them a look again on the next round.
