I am currently looking at some 20s x 9.5 all around with an offset of 45. I am currently running 20x8 all the way around with a 42 offset and tires are 245/35/20. Anyone out here can let me know if these will fit on my xi? If I do buy these Ill probably consider on putting up my current 20s for sale. All input is appreciated.

Thx

1. You'll rub in front with those wheels up front - on suspension components and on the fender, probably What are they? X5/X6?

2. Let's do some simple math. Your wheel 1.5 inches narrower. This translates to ~.75" less space on either side of the wheel well. .75"=19.05mm. Let's say 19mm, .05mm is not going to make a difference.

Now. Your offsets are ET42, the 9.5" wides have ET45. This sets the wheel 3mm deeper than your current wheels. Your new wheels will have ~19mm more "meat" on either side. So the new wheel will stick out roughly about 19-3=16mm on the outside, while occupying 19+3=22mm more on the inner side of your wheel well. 16mm=~.63 of an inch, and 22m=~.87".

You can get away with it in the back. However, up front, is a different story. If you take your front wheels off, you'll probably see that you already rub on the strut there. Even stock 18x8" wheels rub a little on Xi. You can use a spacer to give yourself some space on the inner side, but that will only make the wheel rub on the fender more. My estimate is that you'll need to flare the front fenders by about an inch, at least, to clear these in the front. And then, you'll have to deal with the fact that these wheels will change the geometry of your steering - and there's no heavy duty control arms available for Xi, AFAIK.

Hope this helps.

Yes it did, and they are the X5 wheels in Matte Black. (Yspoke). I just aint feeling my current wheels anymore, saw the Y-spoke and decided to go for a change. They are not OEM so they are 20x9.5 (all 4 wheels) so if I am looking for xi wheels, what range do i need to stay in as far as the Offset? Iv read before its like 35-40, but then again my current 20s are et42. Very confusing! Also looked into getting 2 sets of front OEM 128 (21s) heard that this will work on an xi. Decisions decisions! Thanks again V for the xi input!

I've thought about it myself some time ago. Even posted a thread about it. But I just couldn't find a way to flare the fenders right. If you pull them, you'll most likely end up with some wavy bodywork. If you get a kit, you'll still need to resolve the clearance. Then, the two widebody kits for E60 that I know of - Hamann and Lumma - I'm not crazy about either of them. It basically was way too much BS for me to try and handle. Maybe you'll have better luck - I'll only the success

Just remember that you're still going to be at an elevated risk level with your suspension linkage up front, due to heavier wheels and increased track. You might even have issues getting it aligned. But again, those who don't risk, don't drink champagne, as the adage goes. I can promise to help with whatever I can, if you do decide to go widebody.

Well, this goes back to my original Xi suspensions and wheels thread - I covered this pretty in-depth In a nutshell, your offsets depend on the wheel size. It also gets a lot tighter in that wheel well as you step up to 20", and especially 21" wheels. I am currently running 18x8.5" BBS's all around with the H&R+Bilstein B8 drop (about 1.4"), with ET35 offsets. I've never rubbed and the wheels sit almost flush. I know I can go another 5mm "out", via a 5mm spacer, and still not rub. But if I go wider wheel, I'll have to recalculate the offset taking into the account the new wheel width.

I like the 128s a LOT. Especially the deep concaves of the ones that the RWD E60's can have. The best way to get rid of all the confusion is to educate yourself. Read up on it, understand it thoroughly, before you commit.
Good luck, amigo!
