I believe this will be fitted from 2005 models....do you think it will be retro-fittable on our 2004 ones, all wood looks great on the 645 and I'd like to extend my antracite maple on my car.

Have you seen any pics of this. I like the 6 series console too, but the 7 series has a similar CD area to the 5 and I don't believe it has any wood as a surround.

I sawa pic in a German MOT magazine article and it looked pretty sweet. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy though.

I would really like to know how much the retrofit will be.
It must be pretty expensive, I guess...

It shouldn't be, it's just a bit of plastic..

But labour costs !? How easy is it to take the center console apart ?
I would really like to retrofit mine with a wood insert, since that black plastic is looking too cheap.

If it's just glued on to the plastic I will definately retrofit mine asap (just need to wait for the poplar).

I believe it is a replacement piece. All the trims in BMW's are replacement pieces and none are glued (at least in my old e46).

I'd imagine its just a replacement panel and should be pretty easy to self-fit.

definately going to get it if it fits mine.
