I'm trying to retrofit the electrochromic self dipping mirror. Having removed the mirror mount case, I've currently got two wires feeding the mirror - one red / black, one grey/black/yellow. Obviously, these are for the alarm LED. The replacement mirror has eight wires: brown, yellow, green, black, white, red, black, grey. I've opened up the mirror to try and work out which wire does what, but could make no sense of it. The WDS diagrams aren't proving much help. Any budding experts on mirror wiring out there?

I've decided to stop helping people via PM. If you want my help post a topic and I'll reply to it. PMs help nobody besides the people asking for help. The forum should be help to a lot more people.

You seem to have the pre-Sep 2005 mirrors. On that the EC glass is wired to a separate plug altogether. So you need another plug that goes from the EC glass and terminates into a 3 pin plug.

Bruce - thanks for the tip. However, I was stupid enough not to mention that it's the interior mirror I am changing.

I'm not exactly sure about the colors when I retrofitted my full functions mirror but if I recall here's by pin:

1 = LM
2 = none - related to high beam assistant
3 = power (+)
4 = KGM
5 = KGM
6 = none
7 = none
8 = alarm led
9 = alarm led
10 = ground/earth (-)

maybe you can back trace from the pin config above, hope it'll help. GL!
