Rob, I never interpreted your comments as anything "against" the V1.
My only comment is that you may not "miss the directional bogey counter info" because you never had it to begin with.? I can guarantee you that if you tell a V1 owner that they had to give up that feature, you'd probably see them put up a rather large fight to keep it.
I didn't miss active steering until I experienced it on my car? -- now, each time I drive a car without it, I wish it had it.? (I could go on with examples, I suppose...)

Having migrated over from RF, I am extra careful not to pst anything that could start a flame war. This site is too valuable to see it denegerate in that way. I did not think anyone took offence - just wanted to make sure.

Getting back to the original subject of this thread, any source I've seen indicates that the cordless models have significantly less sensitivity than corded models. I believe the latest premium units from Bel, Escort and Valentine are at least 5 times more sensitive on the Ka band. Considering that most law enforcement uses instant-on radar, a speeder must rely upon detecting a brief signal when another vehicle is being targeted. The more range your detector provides, the better. Put another way, do you want your detector too "see" 1 mile ahead or 5 miles ahead?

Anyone have experience with cordless(battery powered) radar detectors?

================================================== ===
Hi Jimbo:
I owned a new Escort Cordless, and I did not have any success out of it, (maybe I had a bad unit?), but I took it returned it, and paid a little more, (approx: $339.00) and bought the Escort X50, Blue screen. I had it hardwired in my 2004 530i for $50.00 at Hi Fi Buys (Tweeter) and bought the 4.00 visor mount, (because I hate lifelong window sucker marks), and the clip mount works GREAT attached to my visor! (The Pop mode is working great also when selected and programed).

I'm not sure which one is best, but I wouldn't put that butt-ugly Valentine in my nice looking BMW. Dude, where's the style on that thing? It looks like something out of the old Buck Roger's or old school Dr. Who show. For cryin' out loud. lol....
