Thumbs up

I'm trying to decide on what to get for winter.

I found these packages.

Anyone have experience with the Goodyear tires?

What about the ATS alloys? Are they any good?

I am also looking at the recommended package from Tirerack for my 530i (Blizzak ws50, Mille Miglia MM11-2 Sport). Is this better?

Thanks!

I ordered the ASA JH3 Rims with the 17" Dunlop Winter Sport M3 Run Flats from Tirerack. They are due on Thursday. I have had Blizzaks on a few cars before and they are great in the snow, but I wanted a little more dry/wet handling. I probably won't put them on the car until late November. I ordered them early because I have been burned by the winter tires selling out.

Yep! I'm ordering mine soon too.. probably early next month. I think i'm going to downsize to 17" rims. Previously I was planning to stick with 18's but I want the thinner tires 225 versus 245 for the winter. I'd definitly recommend tire rack.

I decided to go with the 18" (minus one for my 645Ci, which has 19" ellipsoid wheels) tire rack package of Dunlop Wintersport M3s + Mille Miglia MII-2 wheels.

The reviews and tests of the Dunlop WinterSports are great for Winter for those that do not need a heavy snow + ice tire. For those in more severe climes, a Blizzak may be a better choice. I went with the Dunlop for better overall performance (a compromise between a sporty tire and a snow-eating tire), understanding that I choose when I go out in my car (I do not commute to work, I work from my home office). As a result, I really do not need as aggressive a snow and ice tire. YMMV.

I'm going with Dunlop Wintersport M3's on my OEM 18" wheels. This will be down 1 from my 19" BBS's. From everything I've heard, the Dunlops are the best by far for light snow in terms of maintaining good performance in the dry. Other good ones I've heard about are Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S for light snow, and Blizzaks for the heavy stuff.

Member545,

The ASA JH3 look much better (and cheaper) than the Mille Miglias. They must be new since I've never seen them at the tirerack before.

I think I'll order this combination.

Thanks!

And they throw in the BMW center caps for free! It shows up on the order confirmation after you place the order. Good luck.
