My Ride: 2004 530i
Thumbs up

Hi Everyone, new here but I have been reading a ton of posts and can't seem to find the answer to this question.

I have a 2004 530i with 245/40 18 RF and I'm looking for winter tire packages. I have been to tirerack and will buy a set from there. The question I have is the have a "special package" when I input my car data for a 16" set. IS this too small? Should I go with a 17" set?

Dropping 2" seems like a lot, but I have no clue if there would be any difference.

I appreciate any feedback/suggestions on this.

Thanks,
Derrick

I don't think that 16 is too small, just make sure that it will fit over the brakes. The overall diameter will just be corrected with the tire size.

Thanks for the input. How would I ensure that is fits over the brakes?

I would think it would also affect handling as well. Is this right?

Thanks again.

The 2004 530i (with 231 hp) will fit with 16's.

The newer versions (258 hp and more) have bigger brakes and need at least 17 inch
