front 225/45/18

recommended sidewalls for 18s would be 40 I believe.

It should be ok.

The correct size would be 245/40, which I am having on my winter setup. The 225/45 will have 3,25mm higher sidewall, but I don't think that's too much.

While the recommended sidewall height is 40 on 18s, my winter tires are 45s, it gives me greater pothole protection. So far in 2 months of use, one of the tires rubbed once when I went down into a big depression (not a pothole) in the road while at speed and with a full load of passengers and luggage. Other than that one time, there has been no rubbing, even over nasty potholes.
