Anything darker than 35% makes night time visibility difficult. Obviously, you can go darker than 35% as others have, but I would recommend checking your state law. Getting pulled over for tint is one thing, but if you get into an accident (possibly injuring someone) and you have tint darker than the legal limit (without medical necessity), you are pretty much screwed.

LOL. Tint on the windshield. I'm sorry, but that has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Why don't you just close your eyes next time you're on the freeway? It'll be a quicker death.
you definitely have a point. if you knew what you were talking about. but instead i will make you a gentlemans bet. you come and drive my car, down the darkest road in America, and tell me if you can really tell my windshield is tinted.
id be willing to bet that you wont be able to tell, honestly. at 55% at does not affect my driving whatsoever, i promise

I put money on that bet. I have 3M 50% on my windshield. Besides from heat and glare reduction with or without sunglasses, at night the headlights of big riggs in the opposite direction is also not blinding. My wife loved it so much we just got her Sequoia done too as well as my sisters lexus.
Now if you live in the country back roads without street lights, it dark regardless of tint...in the city, there's more than ample light with 50% tint on the windshield.
