Why such a push on 245 width? It should fit with no problem. But I don't think fit is the issue here. If I understand you correct, you're more concerned about the 245-width not being wide enough... IMHO, 245 on all fours should be no problem.

you know, when i first read it, i thought you were asking if 245/40/19 fits at all, hence my comment about you can ride with a donut... now to think of it, its 285 to 245 hum... i think thats pushing it, but i think it might work...

huh? what do the doughnuts have to do with anything that i'm asking about????

well, 255 is pushing it in the rear, but it works. however, i'm not sure if 245 will be too thin. although the difference is minimal, the rear wheel itself, is wider than the front wheel. that said, i jsut want to make sure i won't encounter any issues. we all know what a few mm can mean, so i just need to make sure it will work.

this is for my winter set-up. 245's come with the tire i want. 255's come in the tire of my second choice. i'm trying to stick with my first.
245 tread width is equal to 9,6" so it will fit on 9,5" wheel without probs but car will look ungly and wheels will exposed in danger

My thoughts exactly... it wasn't clear that C was trying to mount a 245 on a 19x9.5 wheel. IMHO, that's really stretching the tire. As I mentioned, 8.5 width is the widest rim I'd put a 245 on.

C you are not going to like that tire stretched that much. I went don in tires for rubbing issues but i am going back up becasue with the tire contact on the road being so much less the car does not track well at high speed 70-85 mph. I could not imagine having that uncertanty in the winter with a pure rwd car and that much more power even if it is dry out side. i would say got with th 255 or a 265 if you could. Just my .02 cents
