I buy the 166 rims and put them on my 535i which does NOT have the sports package.

I read some other guys post yesterday who said he had the same exact thing on his car
(no sports, 166 rims) and he said he it looked like crap.

I don't want to lower my car.

How big of a gap are we talking about on a stock car?

Does anyone have a picture of their car (without sports package) on 166's?

Does the "sports package" make the car sit a bit lower than non-sports?

thanks

Yep, it will look like crap. Either lower your car and THEN get 166's, or just don't get them.

P.S. - Eventually you will lower your car and get the wheels because it will just bother you that much. I know, I did it too. =p

What are the options for lowering the car the least?

Are there any tasteful lowering kits out there? And I'm
sure that I'm going to have to mess with a camber correction
kit as well....?

I just don't want to feel/look like I'm some East LA lowrider.

Is this a general consensus across the board that the car looks like crap if not lowered.....

Or just individual taste?

When I was in my early 20's, I would have lowered it without thinking.

Now, my tastes have changed a bit.

/confused.

your gonna have to lower the car bro! I know most customs shops will have the H&R springs, install, and re-align your car for $500

Well, let me chime in here with my non-sport 530i with 19" 166s. I don't think it "looks like crap," and there is not anything 'wrong' at all in keeping it as-is. Particularly if you live in an area with bad roads--like I do--and/or like a nice, smooth ride. But the other side of the coin is 'the look.' And I have been haunting these boards for awhile now and I have now decided that I am going to drop it, probably not to the sport level, but I will do so. This was not as much for 'the look' as it was for 'the feel'--this after driving a 550i w/sport package. I was amazed, and thought "I want."

So, I'm now going to drop it. But don't for a minute think it'll "look like crap" if you don't drop it. Unless you live to keep the herd mentality happy, instead of your own viewpoint, do what you want and be happy. 166s look badass no matter dropped or not.

I put 166's on my non-sport 525i. I didn't want to lower my car since I felt like I was too old for that lowered car look.

BUT THEN I came across the Eibach-Pro Kit with the Koni FSD shocks and threw them on. The car is lower but not TOO low and the ride is very nice. I even got some shadowline trim from Nerweezy and my car looks great. My advice... get the rims and some springs that suit your taste.

+1 what Howitzer said. I didn't want to lower my car but the issue bothered me so much that I ended up lowering it.

And if you appreciate the comforts, you should consider KW Street Comfort coilover set too. I bet Variant 2 is great also.
Street Comfort feels like non-sport chassis, but with better cornering abilities. You can't go as low as with V2 with it, but I think this wouldn't be a problem for you.
