My Ride: 535D Tourer - Pre LCI
Well, I suppose I should have done my homework
I bought a Dension 500 off ebay that was fitted to an A6, i didn't get it particularly cheap, £225 - and am now kicking myself.
The unit turned up with only 4 programming slots which set alarm bells running - the instructions came with it so i knew which buttons to flick for a BMW - further research showed it was one of the first Dension 500's with MOST. I connected it up in my changer loom and still get the changer through the Idrive - nothing of the Desnion at all, even though I've got it connected correctly.
Think I'll have a play at the weekend - if this doesnt work i'll have to bite the bullet and pay full price

For ref, the part number is HW: V2R1
and i meant to also say that i have connected the optics up correctly.... there also seems to be a brown wire chopped from the power plug, i merely connected the black and red cables to the changer loom

Based the compatibility list: http://www.dension.com/sites/default...w_02_12_11.pdf
It requires GW51MO2, which I believe is their 2nd gen update. Was this the one you purchased off eBay? Think I was looking at the same one you got cause I recall it was off an Audi A6.

Yeah I think it is the same one mate (pics weren't too clever were they)- although after reading, the same update system applies to both new and old units. I've emailed Dension regardless, if not then i'll sell it to one of my Audi buddies
