Check the information from tirerack.com, The customer survey and rating for Goodyear Eagle RS-A is so low and the price is much higher then other tires....

$161 Goodyear Eagle RS-A
$97 General Exclaim UHP
$98 Kumho Ecsta ASX

If the review(survey) is right, why BMW choice such a tire for its new car. I am wondering why?

Does Goodyear give BMW 50% discount for these tires? I would not feel BMW will use it if each of them cost $161.

Also BMW claim they test and choice best tire to fit their vehicles, if this is true, all these review/survey much be a problem there.

Those are retail prices. I'm pretty sure that BMW is getting a better deal with Goodyear for buying bulk.

They don't use conti's anymore? Are those even runflats?

If we trust all reviews/surveys ... The Eagle RS-A has a very worst rating and cost almost double of the other tires.... BMW must get a very good deal in order to use them.

From my usage, I actually don't feel Eagle RS-A any bad. I have about 12K miles on it since March 09. I will know the difference next year when I get a new tire set.

At least not in 09 xi model I got. Eagle RS-A is a regular tire, not a runflats.

I am tend to go for Kumho Ecsta ASX. I do few times for ski trip each year, better to have all season instead of General UHP.

They even LOOK cheap and ugly. I thought those goodyears were dealer replacements.. Call me crazy but I love the look of my 138s with the stock conti's. I haven't ridden in one without RFs but I don't think my car rides poorly either. I got a flat once in the canyons at night and drove 15 miles at 50mph with no probs. I had to replace the tire but I was sold on the conti RFs.
