I suggest you dyno your 550 before remapping and adding an exhaust. It's the only way to know if you got any gain at all with these two mods.
Great point. Point me to a Dyno place if you would?
I was told by Vincent at Eurorev that the ECU upgrade on the 08 was "exactly the same" as the 07. (meaning the engines are the same---Hmmmnnn?)
The Dinan people however have not confirmed this to me yet.
The Dinan Website doesn't offer any data about what kind of performance gains one will see with ECU remap on the 07 550i! Does anybody know? And it's hard to imagine they will offer what Eurorev is claiming? 21HP and 21TQ.
Thanks.
So Cal

Hey! Don't ever say "Just an Inline 6 530i." That engine is a fine piece of German engineering.

Hey guys - I was in Germany and just came back in January. I had the opportunity to go to the Hamann factory and I ALMOST had the quad exhaust installed in my car. I didn't because even going highly recommended by Attila and having talked to Uli and Savas, they never once quoted me a final, installed price and I would not drive to Stuttgart (3.5 hours from home) to get it done and find out it was going to be 7K.
That said, before Hamann, I looked at the Eisenmann and had long conversations with the engineers there and got some pictures as well as pictures from Hamann.
Since I came back I have been talking with Ken at Bavarian Auto about the Remus quad. Well, no matter what the May- June catalog says (page 5) Remus does not make a quad for the 550 yet and Ken suspects Hamman didn't either and that's whyt they would not quote me a price - they wanted to fabricate it on the spot. They had a quad on a 645i and one on the M6 (stock) and I have sound files for both but they are too big to post. Send me a normal e-mail address and I'll be happy to send you a copy.
I am posting pictures of the Hamann Quad on the warehouse floor - It does look great. It is very well made. The 90mm tips are pure class.
On the Eisenmann - If you look at the picture, the right side looks fake - just a crossover pipe but it comes not from the muffler but from the last section of pipe in front of the spare tire space. And the tips are not even connected to the pipe but to a flat piece that from the street looks like another "muffler". The Hamann really looks functional through and through.
Here are 4 pics - three Hamann on the floor and one Eisenmann installed - see for yourself.
Regards,
Santiago.
