Just checked and they do not have any in stock..

Found a vendor but on the fence regarding the price which is roughly 5 bills more than what it used to cost..

Jason and Evan confirmed that part#51710429408 is no longer available.

Would need to order kit in pieces

Sure, thats a part number for the LCI set. pre-LCI sets are still very available.

51 71 0 396 684 is for sedans with PDC, 51 71 0 396 683 for cars without PDC.

pre-LCI kit still available as confirmed by me just buying one late last month from Tischer BMW. There are your part numbers. LCI kits no longer available, as confirmed by this thread.

Ok, time for the noobie question..

What would be needed to be done to fit a pre-LCI onto a LCI?

You know, that is a really good question. Maybe in some of my downtime I will try to figure out what is so different between the two. I did something very similar with my E30, only it was the other way around (fit an MT2 kit to a pre-9/87 car...BIG job).

i'm pretty sure the sides and rear are the same for the pre-LCI and LCI mtech. the difference on the front is the LCI has the reflectors on the side. they also changed the foglight design on the stock LCI, so you would have to purchase new ones to work with the mtech.

I just did a bit of cross-referencing with realoem. rear fascia and side skirts are all the same. the front bumper covers have different part numbers. whats different about them I can't tell you, but they have different part numbers. I'm confident you could make it work; if I remember correctly BMW never made any changes to the aprons, fenders, or hoods on these cars - that would mean the differences are all in the bracketry, foglights, etc. It's just a thought, and some brave soul would have to be the guinea pig to confirm this.

good luck to OP, hope you are able to track down a kit.

Reviving this thread

Dasyhrd - Did you ever find the kit? If so, where? Schmeidmann.com has LCI kits but they're saying shipping to the states is $400-$500 plus needs to be picked up at airport, they can't ship directly to body shop. WTF!

Sourcing parts individually runs $2K++, that's before paint and install

Can anyone help and chime in? How direct are Umnitza and Trinity's fitments? I know they're made of polypropylene but are they sturdy with bending resistance like stock kits?

Let me know
