When It Rains it Pours - Rim Saga Continued !
#1
OK - as some of you may recall, I have M6 replicas that are of "undetermined origin", meaning I have no idea what brand they are. They are not Vortex Tuning or Miro. Thus, when I bent one a few weeks ago I was ready to buy rims. That rim was straightened.
Fast forward to last week.
I was coming home from work on back roads and dropped my eyes to the A/C fan control to lower it, and dropped the 2 right rims off the edge of the road. BANG!!!!!!
Huge hit. Bent 2 right rims. One could be straightened, one could not. Thus, I just ordered an ASA AR1 black center with polished lip in 18" staggered setup. 22 lbs front rim, 24 lbs rear rim. I have had this exact rim on my 3 series for about 1.5 years, and they are straight, true, and balance perfectly. So my white e60 will be sporting black/polished rims later this week.
So I now how new rims/tires, new tint, no badges. Hamann splitter needs to be painted and installed, and then black kidneys. Then the black / white scheme will be finished, as will my mods!

Ouch! Glad to hear it worked out for the best in the end. I've seen those rims on Tirerack; they look great.

No. Not really, I could have done without all the drama (which I caused myself) and the expense. I liked my M6 reps.

Enjoy the new wheels and I hope you don't run into another expensive ordeal.

Yeah - the worst part is I did it my self, to my self. That is the annoying part. My own dumb fault. Actually, I think the black/polished is gonna' be sick on the Alpine White 5. And they were $1300 shipped in a 18 staggered set. So really, I'm about 50% unhappy, and 50% "yippee!" waiting for my new rims. But Frank's rims are also sexy. But I'm going for an all black/white scheme on my 5. So I can't really complain.
3 sets in 2.5 years, makes my head hurt just thinking about it.
I still have to get the car to the dealer and have the chassis/control arms checked. I hope that stuff is unbent.

Yeah... 3 sets in 2.5 years because I couldn't get the same wheel in a 'single'. Luckily I insure all my mods that may get damaged, so the cost wasn't as bad as you may think if would have been. Think of it as 3 sets, while paying for a set and a half~
Enjoy your new wheels! My next E60 is going to have the OEM 167 Ms~

And the good thing, I'll have 4 rims/tires for sale that are likely good for autocross.... CHEAP. I just put them back on the car to get it off jackstands. Didn't run it down the street yet.
