Thinking about going from 19's to 18's to get more sidewall for a smooth ride...anyone with 18's out there notice a difference?

Many members, including myself have goe from 18's to 19's and have noticed a decrease in ride quality...but that also maybe biased due to most going from RFT 18" tires to 19" non-RFT tires...

Assuming we are talking about going between non-RFT tires, going to a 19" will increase the road feel and bumpiness a bit. You are decreasing the sidewall diameter by 5mm all around so you can expect to feel more imperfections in the road than with the 18s. With that said, I personally don't find the difference to be that huge and is not something that is going to make the car undriveable for daily use.

Thanks!
I think I'm going ditch the 19's that I just got and go with 18's with a 40/45 series tires (depending on the width of the wheel of course) to try and achieve the same diameter as the stock tire.
I like a specific AC Schnitzer silver wheel and the Beyron (sp?) silver wheel I saw early to day on a Bavarian Motorports web site. Kinesis is also an option. We'll see.
No more bling for me...perhaps I'm getting old.

What I really should do is find someone with stock 17's and some 18's to make a fair comparison. Anyone in the SoCal willing to help out? If you're interested in 19s, you can test drive mine.

Right now I'm running Falcon tires on 19x8.5 in the front and 19x9.5 in the rear. I'm going to go with 18x8.5 or 18x9 in the front with a 18 x (9-11)? in the rear on Pilots.

Seriously, 18s with 245/40 and 275/35 are the standard BMW recommends--if going staggered on 18s. That's what I'm running on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I notice more tramlining than bumpiness due to the increased width (I was running 225s before). GL.
Hmmm...perhaps I should just stick to 18x8.5 or 18x9 all around.
What size wheel in the rear GL?
