WHEELS: 20 vs. 19

I contacted a wheel shop looking for some suggestions on wheels. The shop tells me that 20s on an E60 is asking for bent rims. The shop recommends 19s over 20s due to there being more rubber and a reduce chance of a bent rim and a better ride. Is this true? I what my Bimmer built for speed not cruising.

+1 what Knightcom said.
With 20's, you're gonna be like me before-- replacing 3 sets of modulars a year!
I would suggest going with OEM 166/167's which are built really well and allow you to drive fast without too much concern for road conditions......

i have just had 20 inch rim put on my car 2005 525, the rid is much better than having those run flat tires.
i hav e had 235/35/20 front, 275/30/20 and falken tires all round, but i had to go for a cheaper tires bucause the whhels were expensice.
what do you mean by "replacing 3 sets of modulars a year!"

Runflats have rock hard sidewalls that allow them to run for a set distance after you've lost air pressure. That is what causes the terrible ride.
Potholes, railroad tracks, bumps, and debris on the road... all can cause bent rims, shredded rims, and blown tires... Which equals replacing rims and tires if the damage is too sever.

As far as RFT, anything beats those in comfort.

It depends on the rim design, a deep dish 19" wheel will look smaller then a 19" rim where the wheel design comes to the outter edge of the rim. So if you are gonna go 19" dont get a wheel with a lip, as it will look small, and 18" will look absolutely tiny in comparison.
