Wheel size/offset recommendation
Hey there guys,
I'm looking to buy a set of wheels, but they all come in some funky offsets that I'm not sure will fit on my car without rubbing or understeer issues. Optimal size is a 19 inch staggered setup, but will consider 18s if that's the only option available. Please help me find the ones I need! I have a 545i sport.
size---------offset
18x8.5-------38
18x8.5-------32
18x9---------24
18x9.5-------45
18x9.5-------35
18x9.5-------25
18x10-------- 20
19x8.5-------38
19x8.55------32
19x9----------22
19x9.5--------45
19x9.5--------35
19x9.5--------25
19x10---------20
Thank you!

You want 8.5" rim up front with at least an ET12 with 245 width tire....if you go with 19's, 245/35/19 tire.
The rear rim is typically 9.5" with at least an ET17...with 275/30/19.
18's would have the same offsets, but diff tire heights...higher by 5 on each. Forget those high offsets you posted. The offsets I mentioned above are the lowest you can go without rubbing, for optimal bump outward. You can go as high as ET20 (give or take) in front and ET32 or so in the rear, with those sized rims and tires.

I have 9.5" with et20 all round. Front needs a 5mm spacer to miss the strut, they fill the arch 100% look good. Rear could do with a 10mm spacer to fill the arch 100% that would make the rear 9.5 et10
That way both arches are 100% full of tyre and wheel.

Wow, thanks a lot guys. DrLev, kudos on the very informative post.
I think if I want these wheels, I would jump on:
fronts: 19x9/22offset
rears: 19x10/20offset
This setup wouldn't have a detrimental effect on ride quality, would it?
Thanks again

That rear won't work, now that I've done my calculations. It will rub...too far out by 3mm, assuming a 275 tire in rear. You'd need at least an ET23 with a 10" rim in back to not rub.
Stick with the OEM sizes I recommended in my first post.
Yeah I agree I only have 3mm clearance between the wheel and strut. On saying that you have a major problem if your wheel is moving around by 3mm. The bearing will be hanging off by then you will be off the road way before the wheel hits the strut.
