My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed
those wheels with 245/35/19 all round shouldn't be a problem at all.

My Ride: 2006 530xi. Deep green with beige interior. 6 speed manual. Premium package.
rims are a problem on an xi - the offset is different - so be sure to do your homework prior to purchase

width does not matter, neither does size (well that depends...), and they do not have to be the same in the front and rear
the offset has to be 23mm instead of 40mm
this has been discussed before so if you do a search you will see a lot of info, but das (one of our founders) has an xi and put non xi rims on it and the go out past the fender slightly - I do not know of this is a real problem or not - so need to ask das
in short this is what I have learned so far
1-BMW has the right size rims
2-tire rack has the right size rims
3-3 series rims MAY fit, though there have been some reports of the hub not fitting on a 5 series, though this has never been confirmed
4-can put non x- rims on, but they will protrude past the fender (again, not sure if this really matters)
