Ok guys, I know each has their own taste. In my opinion Style 124 looks very decent and Style 166, that's it, it's the best as far as OEM Wheels go for the e60, again in my opinion.

OK here is the deal. I had stock OEM 17" style 138 wheels and I still have 20" Asanti AF-120's. Whenever I switched between the wheels, I did notice a gap between wheels on the amount of gas my car uses.

Obviously, I know I will get better MPG with stock wheels. Is there a huge gap on the amount of gas the car consumes based on wheel size? I really didn't think so... I would think there would be a slight difference. But a friend of mine has been arguing that there is a Day/Night difference. What you guys think?

The purpose of this thread is not to save $2 on gas every month. It is to prove to my friend that he is wrong.
And on the poll above, help me decide to go with which wheel style. I like both of them.

I don't know if tires play a key role or what not, but just in case here are the sizes:

Stock wheel tire size (f+r): 225/50/17
Asanti wheel tire size (f): 245/35/20 (tires rub agains the front wall, when I turn them)
Asanti wheel tire size (r): 275/30/20

i had 124's last month with runflats and i found a member here to trade my 124's + cash for his 166's and i have no regrets . it runs smoother with non runflats and MPG is the same . 166's ALL DAY EVERYDAY ! over 124's

the rft's on the 124's versus non rft's on 166's makes a difference as well...

but I've also had both style wheels and agreed 166's > 124's

I've always personally liked the 166's.

RFT - i'd stay away. I absoultely hated them. Loving my Hankook V12s now.

I think I can speak for nearly everyone here in saying that the M166 wheels will be favored.

Of course the 166s will be favored. They are wheels off the M5. There is no comparison. 124s are okay too. My favorite OEM 18 inch on the E60.

That's an odd comparison To me, they're apples and oranges. Why not 166 vs. 135 vs. 172? These at least would be McIntoshes, vs. Cortlands, vs. Braeburns.
