I knew it was only a matter of time. Most of the time I drive within the speed limit, last night I was not as careful.
Fortunately my wife reminded me that I was about to roll through a known speed trap so I broke it down to 45mph. By now you probably guessed, 5-0 lit up like a Christmas tree waiting for the arrival of Santa Claus. Feeling rather smug, because I knew I was not speeding,
I pulled into the Town Hall parking lot (the non-paved, dirt only, parking lot). After the usual running of the plates the officer came to the door and asked for, get this, my proof of insurance. He apparently didn't care about seeing the vehicle registration because he never asked for it. Next, he proceeded to verify the VIN on my insurance card to that of the car. I thought this was a little strange but... whatever! Afterward he asked me slow down when traveling through his community. I got away with just a warning.
A warning to anyone traveling U.S. 1 in Central Florida, NEVER SPEED THROUGH THE COMMUNITY OF OAK HILL. This place is so stuck in the 1920's they only have one light... Flashing yellow. They make all their revenue on speeding tickets. Just remember the place is about 20 miles south of Daytona Beach.
Okay so much for the drama. My question is if you are buying a radar detector which one to get? I mostly drive in urban settings so I want one that will not go off everytime I pass a store or something. Any suggestions?
