I have been searching the internet extensively for Sirius Satellite receiver to purchase. I am having a problem figuring out exactly what part number or numbers are compatible with my 2008 535xi, with iDrive. I have found a possible 3 to four part numbers that may work. How do I know for sure? This is a bit frustrating as I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a part and then be stuck with an expensive paper weight because the receiver is not compatible. I have tried realoem.com and saw various part numbers. Here is what I got from that website:
No. Description Supplement Qty From Up To Part Number Price Notes Photo
01 Satellite- radio 1 03/2006 09/2007 65209142850 ENDED
01 Satellite- radio 1 03/2006 03/2008 65209142852 ENDED
01 Replacement of satellite radio 1 03/2006 03/2008 65122232296
01 Satellite- radio 1 03/2008 06/2008 65209162993 ENDED
01 Satellite- radio 1 03/2008 09/2008 65129162994 ENDED
01 Satellite- radio 1 03/2008 03/2009 65129192273 ENDED
01 Satellite- radio 1 03/2008 11/2011 65129192274 $495.00

Then I called a used BMW parts store in California and gave them my year and model. The guy told me that they had one from a 2009 M5 (part # 6512919227302) that would work. This is so confusing. Any help out there?

Part number 65-12-9-192-274

This is the part number I got for the version 2 tuner which has the extra memory to handle Sirius and the best of XM.

Last time I checked cost had gone up more than double, hope you can find one cheaper than this.

Might want to check salvage yards through one of the national search engines. A lot of these places are selling the modules for $100-$200.
