My 04 doesn't have Nav and I was looking at a high end Garmin Nuvi $600-$800 and I wanted to know what kind of set up are you guys running who don't have factory Nav? How do you have it wired and mounted that looks the cleanest. Is the Garmin the best nav unit available? pictures would be great.

thanks in advance

You're right. It is an inconvenience looking down. I do have the screen angeled up so it's not that bad. I'm also ording NAV to TV so the nav will show up on the IDrive screen.

Next car: factory nav installed for sure.

It's an interface that allows you to hook up an external video device to the IDrive screen. For example, if you had a dvd player and wanted to view it on the IDrive screen, you get the interface installed. Most installation places can do it. For my situation, it would be helpful to see the navigation on the IDrive. Here's one of the Web sites where it's offered:

I use a PDA alot, so when I had my last car I used a kit from Arkon Navigation systems. I got a special cradle to mount the PDA on the windshiled and a bluetooth GPS receiver. Everything including the software (You can choose between U.S. or europe) was about $300.
