My 550 sport is in the shop and I have a 135 as a loaner. I really like the sound of the exhaust on the 135. It has a growl that is strong but not obnoxious. I had a similar experience when I had a Z4 loaner.
Driving these makes me want to tweak my exhaust. So my question is this - what would be the recommendation if I want a strong and deeper sound but not one that sounds too aggressive? Also, are there mods I can do on my current exhaust to change the note without having to completely replace it?
Thanks!

You tried looking into Eisenmann exhausts?
There are 2 types - Sport and Race.
If you want that "strong and deeper sound" I suggest you go with Sport as it doesn't sound too aggressive.
I recently got mine - Eisenmann Race Exhaust 83mm for E60 530i - specifically custom and handmade and it is brilliant! It's handcrafted (all of them) and give you 2 years warranty too!

If its the factory 135i exhaust you like, most of the aftermarket exhaust systems may not be for you. I have a B4B exhaust and it is deep but quite loud around 2000 rpm. Most on here will recommend the RPI exhaust for performance however it also may be a bit loud for you. I would suggest maybe trying deleting one of the resonators and see if that will create the exhaust you are looking for.

Thanks - I was thinking there would be something like that (resonator delete) that would give it some punch but not take it to an aggressive level
