a buddy of mine over on the M5 forum asked me a few weeks ago if i would install his CIC system (for $) whenever it arrived from Patryk overseas...i said hellz yea...get paid to do a DIY...thats a no brainer, i love this stuff lol

so anyways, since im new to SoCal i opted to do it on the 4th since i had the day off and im across the country from friends & family anyway. the install was pretty straight forward, Patryk already had the modules pre-coded so all that was needed was some grueling labor to get it all installed. here are some before and after pics.

total install time: only 4 hours including removing the entire center console, cutting and fitting the new CIC controller, installing and rewiring a new LCI climate control interface and even doing a custom mount for the USB drive inside the glove box. normally its a lot more difficult & lengthy to get this done, but ive taken apart the interior of E60s about 40 times now lol

after the full tear down:

here are all the parts laid out after disassembly:

I would have spent 2 hours just to cut the trim to fit the new idrive controller.

My wife will kill me if she sees the car with the trim taken out again - its been so many times
