I've got a UK-spec 2003 530i with a 6-disc CD changer and an AUX in port in the glovebox. I can also play MP3 CD's in the in-dash driver (where the satnav DVD goes).

What would I need and what would I need to do to get full iPod integration with song name displayed on the iDrive screen?

I've tried searching but couldn't find the answer.

BMW offers a retrofit kit that replaces the 6-disc changer in the glove box. Works well, I had it in installed in my Jan '04 build car. There are some limitations on the number of songs or playlists that can be accessed but I found it good trade off with the 6-disc changer. Now if the the 6-disc changer could play MP3 discs that would be a different story...

There are some third party systems as well but others will have to chime in on how/whether they works with the iDrive...

What is the part number for the kit? I've tried 3 different part numbers that I found on the internet with my dealer and he says none of them exist. The 3 numbers I used are:

65 41 0 403 655
65 11 0 403 651
65 41 0 415 655

Any idea what I need to ask my UK dealer for?

Does anyone know if BMW has a software/firmware fix such that the 500 songs per playlist limitation is no longer an issue? It is quite annoying.
