My Ride: 2006 Titanium Silver 550i, with all the bells and whistles!!
I'm searching, viewing, comparing, drooling over a new set of wheels for my car. I have winter rubber on my 17" oem style 116's.
I have decided to go with a non-staggered 18" setup with 245 40 R18 tires for my summer setup. I have narrowed it down to these choices (for now ).
asa ar2
breyton race gts black
I am thinking black is too much of a contrast for a titanium silver car and am leaning toward the anthracite. In your opinion is the black too much?
this one also caught my eye BBS ck anthracite
If you have black rims on your ti-silver, post pics!!!
ps. I am not a fan of chrome or polished lips!

It has to be black and staggered! personally i really like the breytons, they look great on E60's. especially as you want 18's the breytons because of the longer arms look bigger than the BBS'S.

Many thanks for the feedback and votes. Jury is still out on colour. but there is a resounding yes vote for a staggered setup!
Why staggered? Other than looks that is. I'll admit, I love the look of a big pair of meaty rear tires. I started my search thinking I would go staggered, then after reading various forums and reviews I decided square was the way to go.
Based what I know (whatever that is worth).....
the PROs for staggered are:
1. looks
2. straight away traction
the CONs for staggered are:
1. cost more than square
2. can't rotate tires
3. promotes understeer - from another forum "Staggered set ups are for show cars, not race cars"
4. messes with the handling characteristics set up at the factory (I confess, I don't even know what this means)
BMW offers both staggered and non staggered setups from the factory. Do they change the suspension setup accordingly?
My car does not have sport suspension but does have the dynamic handling package option. I'm all for improved traction and handling, but did not want a staggered set up to mess up what I have now. Am I just out to lunch on this?
as for style and colour, there is less to choose from at 18" in staggered, I like the look of the breyton rims and the colour of the BBS rims, but neither of them are available with staggered setups.
Good thing there is no rush...spring is still a way off and the winter set can stay on!

My Ride: 2004 530i
premium package/active steering/auto sunshade/tiag/black dakota leather/logic 7
35% tint all around
19' DPE GT7
Well out of the 3 the bbs would be the nicest wheels but in terms of color might be too close to tiag I prefer my wheels to have more of a contrast. My car is tiag with a darker gray wheel if that helps

Thangs cleung, I like the contrast as well, but since my car is titanium silver, I think that black is too much contrast and was leaning toward the anthracite. Your Car looks good by the way, the tint is the finishing touch! I want to tint as well, but technically BC law does not allow for the front door windows to be tinted.
