Lot of good advice here for you on these forums.

1) how much cash do you want to spend?
2) what kind of gains are you looking to get.

As the age old adage goes.
faster = $$$$ and with a BMW it's more like $$$$ +$$$$

totally agree with RajB. improve handling is something you can feel at corners, i will look into springs and sway bars. unless you cough up the big bucks for supercharger, you simply won't get a huge difference. i did a bunch of things, and the most worthy in my opinion is:

1. sprintbooster
2. lower suspension
3. sway bars
4. lighter and bigger wheels

AFE is more for the sound and you won't notice it until at least 60mph. i got a remap but not sure if it gains all that much... no experience in exhaust but i doubt there's much to gain if any.

I've added the Sprint Booster + Speed Innovation ECU tuning + Remus Quads + AFE Cold Air Intake to my 2004 530i... makes driving this car hella more fun... but always wish for something more faster still...

On my 2007 530i, I had the following done and it made a HUGE difference:

1) ECU Remap
2) AFE CAI (Blue Filter)
3) Sprint Booster
4) Custom Exhaust

Stock was 255 HP. I'm pretty sure I was pretty close to 280HP with the additions I mentioned above.

If you don't have sport package I'd say upgrading the suspension will vastly increase the fun you have hitting corners!!!
