I am thinking of upgrading to LCI headlights. I have searched the forums and found that the retrofit kit for the wiring was wrong from BMW. Is there a fix? Does someone make the cables like bruce cables, I can just buy and plug and play? Need help cause I found a set locally and need to decide asap or they will sell to someone else! Let me know!

OEM retrofit cable from BMW dealer is the least you have to worry about ... you have to get the headlights, taillights and the proper light control module and proceed w/ re-wiring them (especially the plug for the headlights) and then have the dealer do re-programming.

It really depends on witch LCI headlights you are upgrading to. Halo -> Halo , Halo -> Xenon or Halo -> Bi-Xenon.
The easiest way is Halogen to Halogen then you only need to make a cabel for connecting the old plug with the new one. So it's not gonna be Plug and Play!
I'm in the process of changing my pre LCI Halo's to LCI Halo's using this pdf as a guideline (it's in German but 1 pic sais 1000 words) and a Xenon kit.
Hope this helps.

Yup ... the degree of complexity are different ... I did pre-LCI Halogen -> LCI Bi-Xenon upgrade more than a year a go and it was a tricky conversion.

But the result for sure outweigh the install problem http://forums.5serie...-my-headlights/ ...

I am gonna do a pre-LCI xenon to LCI xenon. Do I need to upgrade the tail lights also for the headlights to work?

I have done this with a 2004 545 car with xenon no cornering lights.
This is what it cost me here in Europe:

- Headlights - around 1000 usd for pair (a lil used);
- Taillights - around 300 usd for pair (new);
- Lightmodule (this is only needed to be replaced if you have a car older than a 2005 model, if you have a model 2005 and up you do not need it!!!!!!!); - around 200 usd (a lil used)
- A set of OFFICIAL retrofit cables from BMW - about 50 usd (new);
- Reprogramming done byt a local wiz in Latvia - about 100 usd;

if you're gonna do a retrofit DO the whole BACK AND FRONT. If you only upgrade the front - the back will look terrible and work terrible too. It will give random errors, that your back blinkers are not working and they won't be working, since the light module will be programmed for the LED backlights and they consume less energy. You would only want to upgrade the back alone, but not the front alone.

With all the above performed my car now looks and WORKS from the outside like the LCI. Hope this helps dude.

Keeps us posted on how this goes as this will be an ideal way to get LCI headlights. Add LCI taillights with Bruce's cables and it completes the look.
