My car hit 40K miles mark last week when I took it to the local BMW shop for an oil change (I always change oil every 5K miles). The owner is a friend of mine whom I entrust with all the maintenance outside warranty.

Anyway, I also told him to check out the spark plugs since I don't trust BMW's 100K miles tune-up schedule. He called later and recommended replacing them. His exact words were "they're not really bad but I think you'll notice the difference with the new ones" (I was kind of surprise since I only use Shell V-power). Well, the difference is amazing! Acceleration is SWEEET! Definitely feel like I gain some extra HP. So unless you lease the car, I highly recommend it

Not even close to the same league of vehicles - but I noticed the same thing with my G35, I replaced the plugs at 53K and noticed an immediate difference. I'll have to pull mine and see how they are coming along. A manufacturer can recommend whatever intervals they want, but until they start actually manufacturing the spark plugs, I will assume not a whole lot has changed on them.

What plugs did you get. Stock or aftermarket ones.
