I am considering buying a set of VMR V710s in 18 inch size for use as my winter wheels.

They look good but my number 1 priority is strength. They are cast -- not forged. How resistant are they to bending from pothole impacts??

V710 owners, your thoughts and experiences please.

I like VMRs a lot. My guess is if you hit a bad one, its going to bend. But being 18", you get a bit more cushion with the tires. GL Scott.

I have hit potholes that I was sure would make my 19 inch 172s bend but they did not. I am looking for a wheel that strong.

Should I go for forged wheels rather than cast wheels?

Scott, you should just get OEM 123's or OEM 135's for your winters for strength and reliablity. If i were you, get OEM 135's =).

I have OEM 138's for my winter. =) ( i know it wont fit the 550i).

So far so good with my set, but if they bend then these wheels will not put you out too much if replacing is needed.

I have had nothing but good things to say about my VMR's althought I was worried about this as well so I just purchased an extra front and rear wheel just in case....I figured when its time to sell, I'll probably have hit something bad in the front and/or curbed my rear parking...so I got all my bases covered lol

EDIT: Mine are my summer wheels and are stagg 19's
