Hi,

For us European guys this place http://www.tvfree-modules.com/ offers also a module for e60 video stuff.

I got following answer:
----------
Yes - we do have such a module for the new 5-series E60/E61.
It will be connected to the monitor and has a generic composite video input.
You can switch between the i-drive video signal and the external video input.
price is ? 349,00
---------------

I'm waiting for further information from them bout this solution.

Has anyone got any experiences about their products ?

I know about those guys, I have contacted them long time ago. It depends on what you are looking fow. The module they offer right now is only TV free module. It means you must have TV function original from BMW already in your car. This module will allow the TV to play while car moving.
If you do not have TV function at all in your car this module is useless for you. You have to wait until they will produce the TVfree T-5500
? with integrated TV Tuner
which is not available yet

Ok,

This is exactly what I asked from them:

"I've got BMW e61 (no NAV) and would be very interested to have module that allows to feed video signal (override) to the I-Drive screen. I don't need TV tuner, just the plugs to get video in to the screen. "

So, I assume that they have solution for that... have to wait for more info.

I was thinking about this very generic solution: It would allow portable dvd player or even better, portable hardisk with internal player to hook in (http://www.lacie.com/uk/products/product.htm?pid=10481)...
Anyway it would give options to play with...

Also I got answer to same guestion from Dominic (www.navwithtv.com):
"We have a mod with 2 video inputs 1 for DVD and 1 for backup
camera. This unit will work everywhere in the world and is $550"

Ordering from the States would be more expensive because of the taxes
but let's see...

If this goes forward I have to book AUX installation also... and get things happen

I'd like to conclude this thread by saying that

I NEVER got any further information about those guys in the http://www.tvfree-modules.com/ ... interesting part was that they were more interested about how I'd be paying than giving ANY information of their product (pictures, specs what-so-ever) :'( ... oh well...

I'm on the www.NavWithTV.com solution...

Yep, there is some price to be paid... same price for both options...
E.g. delivery to Finland cost maybe some about 20-30 Euros + (550Eur wihout any group discount) + (custom and VAT = about 28% more )

Actually I think that the price should be a bit cheaper because that module doesn't carry the audio signal at all like the unit with TV tuner does, and still the price tag is the same ?

Anyway roughly it cost about same amout of Euros as it's stated in US dollars... maybe a bit more depending of the delivery costs.

So someone should sell these stuff in Europe and we wouldn't have to worry about these VAT staff etc.... anyway everything is so cheap there in otherside of the big blue... Dominic could set up branch office e.g. in Ireland

I understand that revealing the granny-guide DIY info how this unit should be installed would eat from the plate of mod shop businesses but you could add some price tag for that guide also

and shipping? is there a damn custom also? guess so always there is whatever I order from US.
