You might be able to find used ones in eBay for slightly cheaper but not by much since these things hold their value so well.

Call the number at their web site and ask for their refurbished units. They are about $50 cheaper. They look just like new.

Do you think with purchasing a refurbished model i might sacrifice performance? Or is their refurbished one the exact same...i just dont want it to freak out on me and beep for no reason.

Absolutely worth it. Did a few road trips on the interstates and was picking them up about 1/2-1 mile out. I mount mine as high as possible. Hardwired on the 5.

I got one speeding ticket . It's because I ignored my V1's warning and thought that the police on the side already had a customer.

The V1 has a fanatically loyal and satisfied following here among the board's members.

The only knock on it that I've read on this board (largely from Passport owners) is that the V1 is so sensitive that it can be prone to false alarms. Given how many respected members love it, if I were getting a radar detector, I'd get the V1. If you end up not liking it, you can always try the Passport.

I've never had a radar detector so I can't speak from personal experience but that's my impressions from the many posts here on the topic.

This I'm not sure one since I don't know anyone who purchased a refurb....but for peace of mind...just get it new.
