Hi everyone,

Well, I'm excited that I'm a soon-to-be proud owner of a 2008 e60 535i Monaco Blue/Beige Cream w/ Sport Automatic Transmission. It will be at the dealer in 3 or 4 days. This is my first BMW ever, and I must say, I'm a bit giddy at the prospect of joining the BMW family...

So, here's my first question to this forum:

I've done a ridiculous amount of research and I've decided to buy a Valentine One. But before I do, I was hoping some of you would have some insight as to exactly what to purchase and the best way to mount it.

What I want is a 'stealth install', not so much to be 'sneaky' per se, but to just have a really clean look - I don't like wires or bulky things out in the open in my car, so I want as limited a visual impact as possible on the interior.

I'm assuming the $399.00 Valentine One with the optional $39.00 remote display unit are what I need to purchase. Is there anything else necessary for the cleanest install possible? Will the dealer install one of these for me? I want to hard-wire it so the unit turns on/off with the car automatically, but I'm sure as heck not gonna mess with this myself, for fear of screwing up something with the side-curtain airbags, or anything else for that matter.

Can anyone with previous experience give some pointers?

Thanks a bunch!

Les Hazlewood

Welcome!! I'm a new guy here myself. I have had a V1 for about five years and will not run without it. I was looking for a way to stealth install it in my new 535 when I found this forum. Sure enough someone here had worked it all out. Here is the link

I just did this yesterday. It is nerve wracking as heck to tear into your new BMW but it is well worth it.
You will LOVE your 535. You will depend on your V1 daily. Welcome to the forum and if you need any help with the V1 install just PM me.
BTW the wrench size for the ground wire is a 10mm.
Here is a pic of the V1 installed if I posted the picture right.

Sniff...sniff.... I love you guys!

Thanks so much for the quick responses. I'll be sure to post pics as soon as I get the car.

A buddy of mine with a slick old-school 2002 (dunno what year) is big into photography and recently purchased a really nice 70's era SLR Nikon camera. We were thinking about taking the new car up into the mountains here in Georgia and getting some nice photos w/ the changing colors of the leaves. I will definitely post those as soon as they're developed!

Which reminds me - now I need to find a Bimmer club here in Atlanta....

Anyway, thanks again!

Check out the handy work of this past forum member:

He was offering his services to do this install via eBay a while back however I don't see any listings currently. I can dig up his email address if you want it.

Enjoy!!!

Definitely mount the detector at the top of the windshield. I put mine on the passenger side, next to the rear view mirror. Power access is easy inside the panel on the headliner. I put the remote here:

Works great!
